After losing a closely contested tournament game to Anthony Wayne Highschool through three innings where Lima Senior led 1-0, senior high now looks to rebuild and prepare for the 2023 season. The spartans 2022 campaign would be a tough one only winning 2 games on the year. Lima Senior would face challenges due to the lack of experienced arms, graduating their last experienced "true starting" pitcher in D'ontre Cowan in the class of 2021. Lima Senior would look to resort to young talent supported by a strong senior class in the 2022 season.
Key Losses
The Spartans will look to replace four starters lost to graduation with three of those starters all contributing innings on the mound for the Spartans in their shortened three-year careers due to Covid-19 canceling the 2020 season. These losses include Isaah Moore (1B), Skyler Williams (OF, P, UTIL), Dalton Hahn (2B, P, UTIL), Stephen Harner (OF), and Defiance College commit Reece Waithe (C, UTIL).
Key Returners/Starters
The spartans will however return eight players with varsity experience with three of the eight also all contributing innings on the mound as two ways for the Spartans last season. These players include Brandon Griffith (P/OF), Caiden Crawford (SS/P), Dalton Chiles (OF), Logan Davenport (1B/P), Marshall Jordan (3B), Clay Jordan (2B), Logan Baker (OF), and Anthony Whaley (OF).
Season Outlook
Lima Senior will start their 2023 campaign against Ada Highschool and will follow that game up with the cross-town rivalry against Lima Central Catholic. The Spartans will also look to make their last year in the TRAC (Three Rivers Athletic Conference) a memorable one as they will move to the TCL (Toledo City League) next year.
