Lima Senior to rename auditorium after local jazz legend

Lima jazz hero Joe Henderson already has a mural downtown, and on April 27, Lima schools will add another posthumous recognition to Henderson's legacy.

Lima Senior High School will have a dedication ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday to rename its auditorium after Henderson, a 1953 South High School graduate. The celebration, which is open to the public, will include a short concert by Lima Senior's jazz band and a video salute from musician and Lima Senior graduate Brandon Monford, as well as speakers and a ribbon cutting. Outside the auditorium, a commemorative plaque and a painting of Henderson by the late artist Frederick J. Brown will be displayed.
